Precision Floor Screed Supply in Edgware
Premium sand & cement screed, fibre-reinforced screed, and thermal underfloor heating mixes custom batched on-site for domestic and commercial floors.
Achieve a flawless, level subfloor for large-format tiles, engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl tiles (LVT), or resin finishes. Our floor screed is freshly batched using washed 0–4mm sharp sand, pure Portland cement, and specialized polymers to meet British Standard BS 8204.
Our Specialist Screed Options
We supply a versatile selection of screed formulations engineered for high compressive strength and rapid drying:
Traditional Sand & Cement Screed
Standard semi-dry 1:4 and 1:3 ratio screeds offering exceptional compaction, smooth trowelled finishes, and high load-bearing capacity for residential refurbishments.
Fibre-Reinforced Screed
Polypropylene micro-fibres integrated into the mix prevent micro-cracking, shrinkage curling, and surface crazing without requiring steel reinforcement mesh.
Underfloor Heating (UFH) Screed
Formulated with plasticising additives to fully encapsulate heating pipes without thermal voids, maximizing heat transfer and lowering energy bills.
Fast-Drying Accelerated Screed
Special chemical accelerants allowing light foot traffic within 24 hours and final floor covering installation in as little as 3 to 7 days.
Recommended Minimum Screed Depths (BS 8204-1)
| Screed Construction Type | Minimum Depth (Unreinforced) | Minimum Depth (Fibre-Reinforced) | Ideal Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bonded Screed | 25mm - 40mm | 20mm - 30mm | Direct mechanical adhesion to rough concrete base with SBR slurry bonding agent. |
| Unbonded Screed | 50mm | 40mm | Laid over DPM (damp-proof membrane) or separating polythene slip membrane. |
| Floating Screed (over Insulation) | 65mm (Domestic) / 75mm (Commercial) | 55mm (Domestic) / 65mm (Commercial) | Laid directly on acoustic or thermal insulation boards (PIR/EPS). |
| Underfloor Heating Screed | 65mm (minimum 25mm cover over pipes) | 55mm (minimum 20mm cover over pipes) | Encapsulating warm-water hydronic underfloor heating pipework loops. |
Screed Curing & Moisture Testing Advice:
Traditional screeds cure at approximately 1mm per day up to 50mm thickness, and 0.5mm per day thereafter under normal 20°C temperatures. Always perform a hygrometer moisture test (target <75% RH) before fitting timber or vinyl floor coverings.
